When I need my image I REALLY need it, and have read enough posts by people who couldnt restore their ghost to be as careful as I can. I dont compress my ghost images even to CD. It gives no improvement at all for files that are already compressed like jpg and MP3 files. I dont store data on my boot partition and I find the compression gives me only about 30-35% improvement anyway. Compressed files are more susceptible to corruption than files that arent compressed. If PC DOS always worked I dont think Ghost would have the option to extract the MS DOS.ĬDs are cheap. My guess is that cheapskate M$ wanted royalties for MS DOS and IBM let them use PC DOS free. I found posts by others who also had Ghost problems with PC DOS and also had the same problem I had with the boot disk my computer made. If you are going to ghost the C drive I would use MS-DOS to be safe.
I downloaded a boot disk from and that worked fine for transferring the MS DOS to the Ghost disk. I also had a problem with the MS DOS on the boot disk my computer made having zero bytes. Some Win98/SE systems had problems with PC DOS mine did.
